Bihar Assembly Election Dates Announced

The Bihar Assembly elections are set to take place in two phases on November 6 and November 11, with the counting of votes scheduled for November 14. This announcement was made by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar during a press conference on Monday.

Kumar shared that the total number of voters in the state stands at 74.2 million, comprising 39.2 million male voters and 35 million female voters.

The current term of the 243-member Bihar Assembly will conclude on November 22. Political parties had requested the Election Commission to hold the elections immediately after the Chhath festival at the end of October to encourage higher voter turnout, as many individuals working outside the state return home for the celebrations. The previous assembly elections in 2020 were conducted in three phases due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
